As biomedical preclinical Contract Research Organization (CRO) specialized in the pig model we provide support to the pharmaceutical, biotechnological and medical device industries.
As breeding centre we focus on miniature pigs and we are developing our own miniature pig breed, Specipig®.
Specipig is located in Barcelona, a strong life sciences cluster, and next to the international airport.
As well as being a successful entrepreneur with a long career, Antonio Parente has a doctorate in chemistry for the University of Barcelona, an MBA from Esade and a PADE (senior management diploma) from IESE. He was a founder of CataloniaBio, and in 2010 and 2014 was president of the association (today CataloniaBio & HealthTech).
He holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Ramon Llull University (La Salle) and a PDD from IESE. Since 2000, Amat has been directly involved in setting up several biotechnology and biomedicine businesses. He has acted as president of CataloniaBio & HealthTech business association for the mandate 2018-2022.
She holds a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Barcelona and has specialised in implementing Quality Assurance Systems in biomedical companies. She is co-director of the postgraduate programme in Quality Systems for the Pharmaceutical Industry and Pharmaceutical Research at the University of Barcelona.
He holds a PhD in Medicine and an MSc in Animal Welfare from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He is head of the Experimental Tuberculosis Unit and head of the animal facilities at the Health Sciences Research Institute of the Germans Trias i Pujol Foundation. Cardona co-founded biopharmaceutical company Archivel Farma and biotechnology firm Manremyc. He has devoted his career to tuberculosis research for the past 15 years.
He earned a degree in Biology from the University of Barcelona and later went on to finish his training in molecular biology at the University of Minnesota. Barrera has been technical director at Semen Cardona since 1998. After more than 20 years working with swine, he has become a world-renowned expert in swine reproduction and animal healthcare and production. He has given numerous courses in Europe and the United States.
